Born in Miami Beach, Florida, USA, on June 15th, 1967, to Cuban immigrant parents, my lifelong relationship with art began as a child while trying to communicate with my father, Ernesto Diaz Rodriquez, who served a 22-year prison sentence as a political prisoner in Cuba, from 1968 to 1991. My earliest memory was of our mother reading the letters he wrote to us before bedtime. Accompanying his letters was always an illustration or drawing. Intrigued and inspired by the colorful characters and subject matters, I began to draw as a way of connecting with him. This was my first introduction to the art of Dz Diaz, which would later influence my journey in Dz Diaz music as well.

Living in a two-bedroom house in Allapatta, a lower-income district of Miami, further fueled my desire to stand out. As an extremely shy middle child in a family of overachievers, I crafted my own universe to cope with the chaos of everyday life. This universe, shaped by my insatiable appetite to push the boundaries of the known and unknown, is where I strive to find completeness, free from the opinions and pressures of an ever-changing society. This is my sanctuary, and I invite you to step inside and explore the Art of Dz Diaz, as well as the music and creativity that define the world of Dave Dz Diaz.
